Looking Ahead

3/5/14

I've mentioned here before that I always go into a funk around January/February and this year was definitely no exception. This winter has been brutal. The Associate Press published that Detroit has been the worst hit city so far this season- with 6.5 feet of snow fall and over 100 days of below freezing temperatures! And it doesn't look like it'll be warming up anytime soon. I'm certain we'll be running our St. Patty's Day 5k on ice.

The only and I really mean ONLY thing getting me through this funk is planning fun, outdoor activities for this spring/summer. My husband thinks I'm being a little ridiculous, but I need things to look forward to/daydream about. So here's what I'm looking forward to-

Chicago Trip/KOL Concert which is this weekend! A group of 11 of us are taking the train to Chicago, staying two nights, and seeing KOL play at the United Center. The forecast is looking up, so hopefully that'll help calm my nerves a little about this "spontaneous" trip.

Skydiving! Thomas has been wanting to skydive for years and we've finally put the plan into action! If the weather cooperates we'll be jumping out of a plane one Sunday in April.

A trip to the Columbus Zoo and camping over Memorial Day weekend in May! We loved the zoo so much last year that we can't wait to go back and T camps every Memorial Day weekend with his cousins & their friends. I'm joining them for the first time this year... lord help me.

Weekend trip to Chicago. T and I will be heading back to the Windy City again in June. My grandparents bought us citypasses and it wasn't going to work using them next weekend while we are there so we're going to go back once the weather is warmer and more things are open.

I'm really looking forward to our anniversary trip to Gatlinburg in mid-July! There are only a few things I love more than traveling.

And the thing I'm looking forward to the most will happen in August- moving! We don't know where we'll be going yet {and still have a while to wait boo} but we'll be back on our own by the end of August!

See! I have all of these awesome things to look forward to, but the 5+ inches of snow STILL outside are making it difficult to really get excited for all of these awesome outdoor activities.

What is something that you're looking forward to?

Next up.. Moving!

8/20/12

Now that the GRE is over with I can 100% focus on the next big event happening in my life: moving! I only have two more days in Louisiana before moving back home to Michigan. Once I arrive in Michigan I only have three days before the moving process begins, talk about crunch time! What all do I have to get done might you ask? This is my to do list for next weekend:

Friday: Secretary of State to change my last name, AAA to get started on our cruise/honeymoon, Bed Bath and Beyond to buy the rest of the items on our wedding registry, and I need to go to all three of our banks.

Saturday: Costco, Meijers, Michaels, meeting two friends for lunch, and CVS to get a new passport photo taken.

Sunday: Kohls, Best Buy, Target and the Dollar Store.

It's definitely going to be a busy weekend, but I'm sure I can get it all done! In the meantime I've been trying to do as much planning as I can. I have my shopping lists written and my goal plan figured out.

Am I the only one who does things like this?! Hey, I need to write down all of the ideas/thoughts swirling around in my head. Since time definitely isn't on my side I need to do everything I can to make this move as easy as possible! I'm also trying to be as active as possible since it's only my little family of four doing this move!

Have any of you moved recently and would like to share any tips with me?

Apartment Planning

8/13/12

In a little over two weeks I'll be moving into our very first apartment!! I'm excited, but really nervous too. This technically will be the first time I'll be living on my "own." I lived in the dorms my first two years at Western and since T isn't moving home until the middle of October I'll be all alone for roughly two months. Why am I so nervous might you ask? Oh maybe it's because I don't know how to cook anything that doesn't cook in the microwave! I'm not even joking. I've never had the desire to learn how to cook and now I'm in for a rude awakening. But, I'm SO excited to decorate and organize it. To finally use all of our wonderful wedding presents ;)

Since I'm so anxious about the move I decide to post a few pictures of the furniture we've bought/been given over the past few months that will make this apartment our home.

The floor plan 1bedroom/1bath 900sqft

Isn't that bar cart bad ass or what?! And yes it is totally necessary due to all the bar ware/glasses we got as wedding presents!

I think I'm most excited about decorating the bookcase!

T doesn't understand the point of a vanity, but he soon will ;)

As you can tell we're going with dark brown as our "main" color. The kitchen and bedroom will be blue and the bathroom will be green and brown palm tree themed.

Stay tuned for real pictures within the next few weeks!
