Duke's First Birthday Recap

It's already been over a week since Duke turned a year old on October 4th so I figured I needed to get my rear in gear and recap his big day!

Thomas and I both worked crazy overtime the week of his birthday and that forced us to celebrate on Thursday, the night before his actual birthday, but I don't think he cared ;) I realize some people might think I've completely lost my mind {because lets be real this whole party was all me haha} but maybe I have...

Anywho, we had the party with my grandparents at their house and I'm glad they were such great sports! We started the party off with a "scavenger hunt" to find his presents aka new toys that were spread around the living room with treats.

Next we busted out the party hats and for the most part Duke didn't mind it!

And then it was time for cake! I ordered him a peanut butter cake from Three Dogs Bakery and it was a huge hit!

I think it's safe to say that Duke had the best birthday any dog could wish for! It's also safe to say that Papa thinks he's in charge of the rest.... not happenin' ;) Now I need to get crackin' on Duke's scrapbook!

Happy Birthday Duke!

Today is my bugs first birthday. How has it only been ten months since he came home with us?! Most days it feels like it's been years. I can't really remember my days without his annoying adorable self.

 One week old

 The night we brought him home- December 7, 2012

Getting up at the crack of dawn, cleaning up accidents multiple times a day, being bite almost daily, numerous things getting chewed/ruined, and yet I still love him more than anything {besides his Papa!}

He makes me smile and laugh every single day. He gives the best kisses. He forces us to be more active. To do things we wouldn't have done before. He's taught us a whole lot about responsibility. He's forced me to learn patience. He showed us that we aren't ready for human kids quite yet and for that I am forever grateful {seriously!}

Most importantly he's turned me into dog lover and now for the rest of my life I don't think I'll be without one. How could you when they've become such a huge part of your life? I am so excited for the next 10+ years with him!

Happy first birthday Duke! You're the best pup anyone could ask for and I'm so lucky you're mine!

Birthday Week Recap!

Since last week was my birthday I figured I'd recap the entire week today instead of just the weekend, because it was that good! ;) It was definitely one of my favorite birthdays to date!

I have always joked with T about wanting to celebrate the entire week leading up to the actual day and even though he thought it was absurd he actually went along with it this year! To celebrate I got a small ($25 or less) present everyday August 1st through the 7th (talk about spoiled).

We also went on extra date nights, I was allowed control over the remote, ect.

On my actual birthday we worked and then met our family (in-laws, grandparents, and brother) at Bahama Breeze for dinner, which was yummy and fun as always.

 I love these two boys more than anything in the world <3

And the reason I had to work was because I needed the next day off for the Backstreet Boys concert! AKA the second best (behind our wedding) night of my life. Words cannot describe how amazing the concert was, by far the best one I've ever been to and I've been wanting to see them in concert since I was 7 years old! A dream come true :)

And then we wrapped up the birthday celebrations Saturday night at Bar Louie with a group of 10 of my closest friends <3

And that is why this past week will go down in history as one of the best weeks of my life! I am so incredibly blessed and my heart is so full :)
